August Fun

The weekend of August 15th was Tug Fest in LeClaire. Friday evening there is a parade followed by fireworks. On Saturday the main event takes place. They shut down the Mississippi River for a couple of hours and place a large rope between LeClaire, Iowa, and Port Byron, Illinois. There are 10 teams on each side and they tug for two minutes each. They add up all of the distances the rope is moved each tug and then declare the winning state. Unfortunately, Illinois out-tugged us once again. On Saturday we went out on the river with some neighbors. We watched the tug for a while then anchored in the canal so we could float around. Once again, it was difficult to get Nash back in the boat. That boy is part fish!
