Quotes from Nash

Nash: "Mom, some dinosaurs are still alive right?"
Me: "No honey."
Nash: (gasp) "T-rex died?"
Me:  "yep."
Nash: "Whew.  I almost had a heart attack."

Feeling like Fall

OK, so it was somewhere near 80 degrees today so it didn't really feel like fall.  But the leaves are starting to change and the evenings are getting cooler.  It makes me excited about some of the things that come along with Fall...mostly pumpkin flavoring at Starbucks.  But also hooded sweatshirts, bon fires, smores, honeycrisp apples and football, to name a few.  To get into the spirit, we took Nana with us to the apple orchard today while Jason watched the Hawks beat Minnesota at Kinnick. WOOT!

Up, Up and Away!

We joined the Kies family on Friday night for the QC Hot Air Balloon Festival.  We went last year too but the weather was much nicer this year.  Such a cool event.

Nyle Steven - 8 weeks old

I weighed myself on the scale today then weighed the two of us together to get some idea of what Nyle weighs right now.  Unofficially, he weighs 14.5 pounds.  He is back to 5.5 oz bottles for the most part. Not much else has changed this week.  Still very smiley and eating every 3 to 4 hours at night.  I started  back to work but I am making a very slow comeback.  Only one day a week for a couple of weeks, then two days a week for a couple of weeks.  I start my normal schedule the last week of October.  I wasn't really ready but it went fine.

Nyle - 7 weeks

The little mister is now 7 weeks old.  He's been eating a few 6 ouncers lately and we've had a few feedings recently stretch to 4 hours apart so that is nice.

Guess who wants to be right next to Nyle?

Kickin' It!

Nash had his second soccer game on Saturday.  It was even more entertaining than t-ball although he did show a little more focus during soccer.  It was so fun to watch.  He was right in the huddle most of the time trying to get to that ball.  He kicked it several times.  He likes his new shin guards.

Nolan waits at the edge of the field just waiting for a break in the action so he can get out there and kick the ball around too.

Nyle Steven - 6 weeks

What a week for the little man!  He is now smiling when he recognizes a familiar face.  It is so sweet to see.  The last couple of weeks have been rather stressful so Nyle's timing was so perfect.  His smiles are like therapy for me.  More on that later probably (or maybe a whole different blog).  I'm not sure how much Nyle weighs now but he has definitely filled out the last week or two.  He is out of newborn diapers and we have moved on to 3 month outfits.  He is still eating 5.5 oz usually every 3 hours.  We are so thankful he is such a good baby.
I couldn't get the paci away from him for a picture

Nash is still a very adoring big brother. He asks to see "sweet little Nyle" all of the time and is a pretty good helper.  Nolan's terrible twos have amped up the last couple of weeks.  He likes to throw things when he doesn't get his way and screams "Bad Dash!" even when Nash doesn't have anything to do with it.  This too shall pass.  Here are a few shots of Nyle in his Sunday best.

Hey!  I know you!

Go Hawks!

I need to thank my wonderful parents for watching all 3 boys on Saturday so Jason and I could spend the day with our friends.  It was our annual neighborhood bus trip to watch the Iowa Hawkeye football team.  What a fun day!

We left at 6am for the 2:30pm game and got home around 9pm.  Unfortunately, it looks like it might be a long season for Iowa fans this year.  We lost 6 to 9 during a less than exciting game against Iowa State.  Despite the loss, we had a great time hanging out with friends.

**Sadly, we missed Nash's first soccer game.  Nana, Papa, Nolan and Nyle went to cheer him on.  He said he had a lot of fun.  I asked him if he kicked the ball and he said "Yes...but not during the real game."  Nana reassured me that he was actually in the huddle most of the time and got in on the action. He was very excited that they won 5 to 0.  I told him as long as he does his best and has fun, it doesn't matter who wins.  He said, "OK, but we won."  Looking forward to watching him playnext weekend!

Grama Jo is here!

Grama Jo came back from California to see us again.  We've been having lots of fun with her despite the cold bug attacking us all.  The boys helped her make peach crisp before all of our peaches went bad.

Another fun trip that went by way too fast.  We have one full day left tomorrow and then Grama hops a flight back to Cali on Friday morning.  She has been such a big help this week!  We are going to miss her and look forward to her next visit.  Thanks for coming Grama Jo!
