Nyle Steven - 15 months

Our sweet little daredevil turned 15 months old yesterday.  He's changed so much in the last three months.  He has 12 teeth now which explains why he has been a little less than chipper the last few months.  I was starting to think he might need an IV drip of tylenol there for a while.  Poor guy.  A runny nose and cranky temperament is no fun.  The last week or so I have noticed his giggly, goofy personality coming back so I think the teething bit is taking a break.

Nyle, you love going up and down the stairs.  We still have the gates up and you need supervision because you are still learning that you need to stay on your tum tum when coming down.  Occasionally you will try to stand up and take a step into mid-air.  Which brings up my next point.  You have earned yourself a couple of nicknames.  "Crash" for obvious reasons.  And "Goo Goo."  This is pretty much all Nash calls you now.  You have a vocabulary of about 4 words at the moment: "mama," "dada," "gung gung," and "goo goo."  I can tell you are comprehending much more than that but no need to use extra words when you get what you want using the core four.  You are so active and walking all over the place.   You know what sound the elephant, monkey, and dog make.  You wiggle your nose like a bunny.  You usually take a really good morning nap and a short afternoon nap.  You are still in size 5 diapers and wearing 2T clothes.

Things you like: being outside, "brushing" your teeth, cheese, climbing up onto the couch, chasing your brothers, bananas, taking all the books off of the book shelf several times a day, your pacifier
Things you dislike: having your nose wiped, green peas, when someone closes the gate right before you are about to sneak up the stairs, teething
I've noticed an interesting phenomenon.  You can already make the machine gun noise.  I'm convinced boys are born knowing how to do that.  I still haven't really mastered it, not that I really need to.  You point a block or some other toy in front of you and it just naturally rolls from your mouth.  You can mark that skill off your check list!
Nyle Steven, you are such a blessing.  We are so thankful God chose us to be your family.  We love you Goo Goo!

Nyle Steven-10 months old

Seems unreal that our baby boy will be one year old in just two short months.  It seems like time goes by faster and faster with each child.  This was another big month for Nyle.  He now has 4 teeth on the bottom and it seems like two are working their way in on the top.

He is very active during diaper changes and bottles so it gets interesting sometimes.  He sleeps through the night like a champ and takes two good naps during the day.  He loves to watch his brothers and gets a big smile on his face when he sees them.  He is getting up on all fours now and occasionally takes a lurch forward but still prefers the roll and spin method of getting around, and he is quite quick and efficient at it too.  He rolls from room to room and likes to pull the registers off of the floor and stick his arm down into the hole.

And he recently discovered that there is not a child latch on the drawer where we keep the baggies and foil.  Gotta keep a pretty close eye on this guy!  He can make the elephant sound and raises his arm up like a trunk, growls like a tiger and barks like a dog. Nana is starting to work with him on some new animals too.  He says, "Uh Oh" and waves "bye bye".  He loves the puffy snacks and just started eating the crunchy corn curl type snacks too.  He's wearing 18 month clothes and size 5 diapers because the 4's weren't doing the trick at night.

Nyle Steven,
You make us smile every day.  It is so fun watching you learn new things and make new faces.  You are such a big boy and I thank you for giving me a strong and defined right bicep muscle.  I know in the blink of an eye you will be off and running with your brothers.  So for now, I will enjoy this time while I can.  You are a blessing!
Love,
Mom

Nyle Steven - 8 months old

When I had Nyle at the doctor the other day because of his fever, he weighed 23 pounds and was 28.5 inches long.  It's really hard to believe it was 8 months ago already that he was born.  He has two teeth showing now on the bottom.

He was never a very good napper however recently he has figured it out which is such a blessing!  I'm not sure why he fought it for so long.  He has started taking a good nap in the morning and one in the afternoon.  For so long he would only nap for 20 to 30 minutes at a time.  Now he naps around 1 to 2 hours but a few times he hit the 3 hour mark!  He sleeps like a real baby now!  He is a happy baby with very ticklish ribs and thighs.  His giggle is adorable.

He is starting to imitate sounds.  He still prefers veggies over fruits but is getting better about eating fruits too.  He loves bath time.  The other day though he was so relaxed that he pooped in the tub.  Unfortunately Nolan happened to be in with him so I had to evacuate the tub quickly, drain, sanitize and refill.  Gross then, but kind of funny now.  He loves to watch his brothers play and I can tell he is just itching to join them.  He doesn't appear very close to crawling yet which is fine.  I put him on all fours and he sort of face plants into the carpet.  Gotta work on the upper body strength a little more yet.  You are such a blessing Nyle!

Teeth!

Nyle's two front bottom teeth popped through this week!  You can't really see them yet but you can definitely feel them.  It was obvious they were coming as he has been a little more fussy lately and not sleeping the best.  Hopefully we can put the tylenol away for a while now.

Splish Splash

Today Nyle took his first bath in the big bath tub.  I kept up the sink baths as long as I could, but the truth is...he outgrew the sink a while ago.  I think he likes having the extra space!

Nyle Steven - 4 Months Old

Our little mister turned 4 months old today.  He's getting SO big.  He's wearing 6 month (barely) and 9 month clothes already.  I'm not sure how much he weighs but we will find out at his doctor appointment next week.  He's getting really close to rolling from back to front but hasn't quite figured out how to get his arm out of the way yet.  He giggles when he is really excited about something.  He likes his bouncy play gym but usually for short periods of time.  Since Thanksgiving he has become a bit less easy going than he was before.  His naps are short and if he's not sleeping, he would really prefer to be held.  Thank goodness Grama Jo is here to help this week or I'm not sure how I would make this work.  Next week could be interesting.

Not impressed

He loves to chew on things and is drooling a lot.  He is still eating 6 ounces every 3 hours during the day usually and gets up once during the night, usually about 3am.  Nash calls him "Cute, little guy" or "Cutie McCuterson."  Happy 4 month birthday Little Man.  We love you lots!!!

Nyle - 10 weeks old

Nyle is 10 weeks old today!  I love his big smiles.  He is starting to stay awake more during the day so we have more time to play.  Today we celebrated in the morning with a huge diaper blow out and this afternoon with his first projectile vomit all over the two of us and the chair.  Happy 10 week birthday buddy!

Nyle - 9 weeks old

Nyle had his 2 month checkup on his 9 week birthday.  I was really curious how much he weighed.  13 pounds 14 oz which puts him in the 75th percentile.  I checked to see how he compared to his brothers.  Nolan weighed 16 pounds 6 oz when he was 9 1/2 weeks old and Nash weighed 11 pounds 14 oz.   Nyle is 23 inches long which is average for his age and he is in the 90th percentile for head circumference.  Big brain.  He got 3 shots today...that was hard to watch, as always.  Maybe I should have taken these pictures before his appointment?

Bath Time

Nyle is starting to enjoy his bath time. These pictures were taken post sink bath.  He's almost getting to big for the sink.  I have to be careful because if he kicks his feet, his head hits the other side.  :(

A Trip Through Time

Born 2.23.08
Born 12.5.09
Born 8.1.12

Nyle - 7 weeks

The little mister is now 7 weeks old.  He's been eating a few 6 ouncers lately and we've had a few feedings recently stretch to 4 hours apart so that is nice.

Guess who wants to be right next to Nyle?

Nyle Steven - 6 weeks

What a week for the little man!  He is now smiling when he recognizes a familiar face.  It is so sweet to see.  The last couple of weeks have been rather stressful so Nyle's timing was so perfect.  His smiles are like therapy for me.  More on that later probably (or maybe a whole different blog).  I'm not sure how much Nyle weighs now but he has definitely filled out the last week or two.  He is out of newborn diapers and we have moved on to 3 month outfits.  He is still eating 5.5 oz usually every 3 hours.  We are so thankful he is such a good baby.
I couldn't get the paci away from him for a picture

Nash is still a very adoring big brother. He asks to see "sweet little Nyle" all of the time and is a pretty good helper.  Nolan's terrible twos have amped up the last couple of weeks.  He likes to throw things when he doesn't get his way and screams "Bad Dash!" even when Nash doesn't have anything to do with it.  This too shall pass.  Here are a few shots of Nyle in his Sunday best.

Hey!  I know you!

Nyle - 5 weeks

We have a nasty bug going around our house right now which makes things extra challenging and makes me even more tired than I would be otherwise.  Nash and Nolan and I all have it.  Grama Jo is here visiting right now and I'm sure she is elated that we shared with her as well.  Nash has missed two days of preschool this week so far.  Luckily, Nyle is doing fine and Jason has somehow avoided it too.
Nyle is 5 weeks old today.  He is eating about 5.5 oz at a time and his feet are starting to stretch out the bottom of his newborn outfits.  Maybe he did grow about 1.5 inches that first 2 weeks!
The "big boys" are doing well other than their colds.  Nash still adores Nyle and wants to be near him all the time.  His new thing is shaping Nyle's hair into a mohawk.

Along with my cold, I started having trouble keeping up with Nyle's feedings.  My supply was not meeting his demand which is very unusual for me.  I gave him his first formula bottle yesterday and one today.  He did great.  I've been pumping like crazy trying to increase my production and it's a little better.  I melted down about the formula thing at first but I have come to terms with it now (I think).  It is what it is.  I will keep giving him breast milk as long as I can, even if I have to supplement with formula every now and again.  It's just different this time around for some reason.  Maybe because he started out stretching his feedings so far apart and now is eating more often.  Or maybe because I was dehydrated?  Doesn't matter I guess.  He's doing great.
Well, I've survived the first 5 weeks.  It's definitely been challenging at times.  My family has been such a big help.  My sister stops by when she can.  My mom still comes over on Wednesdays and Thursdays which are her normal days with the boys when I'm not on leave.  Grama Jo has been here this week and has been a huge help.  Three days a week, it's just me and my three boys.  It is down right crazy sometimes.  It would help if I had wheels on my feet and more than 2 hands.  I told myself before Nyle was born that this first year would be challenging with all three boys at home.  Nash has preschool 3 days a week for 3 hours each day but it's almost crazier trying to get everyone ready and loaded up in the morning.  I find myself telling the boys quite often, "Patience please.  I am only one Mommy."  Don't get me wrong, I am so thankful to be home with them.  My maternity leave is going by way too fast!
