Quotes from Nash

About a month ago Nash and I went grocery shopping together.  He wanted to hold the list.  When we got into the store I asked him what was on the list.  He said, "Step one.  Take a deep breath."

Please Don't Feed The Animals!!

I took Nash and Nolan to the zoo today.  They loved it.  Nash kept wanting to stop and sit so he could eat a snack.  Nolan wanted to follow the train around.  We have been to the zoo several times but this time we got to do some new things.

We always end our zoo trip with a train ride.

After Nash's nap this afternoon he called me up to his room.  He looked completely seriously when he asked me if I saw the little monkey that jumped from his ceiling fan to the window.  I think he had a dream about the zoo.

OH BROTHER!

My little babies are growing up into full fledged little boys.  Some moments are quite challenging but most moments are so much fun.  Here's the scoop..
Nash is 3.5 years old.   He is very social but having a hard time learning to share.  He loves to giggle loudly and tells us every day that he loves us, usually multiple times.  Thanks to Daddy he loves the movie "Transformers."  Seriously, it's all he wants to watch.  What happened to "Toy Story?"  He plays with his "Cars" matchbox cars every day.  We have duplicates of some and he loves to match them up.  He can spell his name and writes his "N" and "H."  The other day he told one of our babysitters, "When I'm 4 I'm gonna be a paleontologist."  HA!  I'm pretty sure that came from PBS.  He sleeps in our bed, loves his little, yellow, blanky and takes one much needed nap in the afternoon.  He likes chocolate milk and pop tarts.  He has an occasional ornery streak but then again, he's 3.

Nolan is almost 21 months old.  He is fearless and charges full speed ahead.  He likes to do everything Nash does.  He's becoming more independent and lately has started yelling, "NO!" if he doesn't like what he hears.  Trying to put the kabosh on that ASAP.  He takes 2 naps a day but it's looking like that will go down to 1 nap very shortly.  He sleeps with his little, blue blanky and his paci.  He LOVES to read books.  He will bring me book after book until I collapse.  He likes looking at an "I spy" book and pointing out all of the things he sees.  Tonight he showed my "parrot" and "dice."  Those were new ones for me.  He is very friendly and waves HI and BYE to anyone who listens.  He gets frustrated when he can't do something on his own.  He likes to climb the stairs, shut the baby gate, and turn lights on and off.  He likes football and calls most sports "football."  He is a very happy guy most of the time.  He likes to play with cars and trucks too.

Last week we got our baby stuff out again.  No, I'm not prego. Our neighbors' grandbaby was flying in for a visit and we offered to lend them a few things.  Here are some pics of the boys reverting back to infanthood.

One of my favorite things is to watch my boys play together.  They have such a good time, while it lasts.

We love these two little guys to the moon and back.

Nash's First Day of Preschool

Nash has been so excited to start pre-school since bible school ended earlier this summer.  Last Wednesday, the morning of the big day, I could tell he was getting a little leary.

I started work a little late so I could take him to school along with Nana and Nolan.  It did not go as well as I had expected.  Nash cried as I started to leave.  I got tears in my eyes.  Nana saw me crying and she started getting tears in her eyes.  Two of my neighbor Mom's were standing at the door trying to coax me out of the building.  As I started toward the door Nash started crying louder and yelling for me some more.  I forced myself to leave with tears streaming down my face and as I walked out I noticed I had also made the other two Moms teary eyed as well.  Well done Megan!
Ready to rock n roll
When I got home from work on day 1 I asked Nash how school went.  He said, "Mom, pre-school freaks me out."
I asked him who he played with and he said, "Owen and the boy in the white shirt."  On day 2 I asked him who he played with and he said, "Owen and the boy in the blue shirt,"  I suggested he ask the boy what his name is.
As I am finishing this post, we have now survived 5 days of pre-school.  I'm happy to say that each day has been better and better.  He is now excited to go to school to see his friends and learn new things.  He is singing new songs and bringing home projects.   I love hearing about his day.  He's growing up so fast!

It's Been A While!

Wow!  Once again I've slacked on my blogging.  No excuses other than work and enjoying the summer with my boys.  So, where did we leave off?  Well let's talk about our exciting visit from cousin Adam.  He managed to tear himself away from the law firm in California for a few days to have some fun with us in Iowa.  We took him to the fair for a few concerts, he talked Jason into getting on that insane bungee ride of death, and joined Jason and I on a canoe trip with my high school friends.  I didn't take my camera along for that one because lets face it, I was in a canoe with Adam and Jason and the odds of tipping were pretty high.  I did take a few on my phone but haven't figured out how to get them onto the computer yet.  Technically challenged!
So funny!

Come again soon Adam!  And bring BJC with you too!

What else?  Jason organized a Titan employee appreciation event at the Bandits baseball game.  Nash was SO excited to see Rascal.

Looks like I caught Rascal and Nolan off guard
About a week and a half ago, Nolan climbed over the side of his crib and plummeted to the floor with a loud crash.  No injuries thank goodness!  We were not quite ready to turn the crib into a toddler bed but I was not willing to see if he would try it again either.  We quickly figured out that his toddler bed looks more like a day bed and doesn't have the railing on the front that Nash's did.  I check on him the first night and he was sleeping peacefully next to his bed on the floor.  Since then, he has been sleeping in his pack n play until we can figure out a better solution.  To be continued...
You might want to sit down for this next part.  NASH STARTED PRESCHOOL!!!  I need to start a whole different post for this one.
