Quotes from Nash

If you have every watched "Super Why" you might appreciate this one.  I asked Nash to finish his mac n cheese at lunch the other day.  He said, "I can't Mom.  In my story it says Nash will only eat grapes and crackers.  :0)  Nice try Buddy.

Nash likes to ask me if I know why certain things are called what they are called.  He asked me the other day if I knew why a driveway is called a driveway.  He said "because you drive on it and it's a way to get to your garage."  I told him he was so smart and asked how he knew that.  He said "I just learned it myself.  God made me this way."

Big Helpers

We started feeding Nyle his milk from a bottle every once in a while so we can get him used to it.  Jason and I have plans to go to a Hawkeye football game soon so the boys will be with Nana and Papa for the day.  Nyle is eating 5 oz at a time.  Nash and Nolan wanted to help feed him today.  They are such big helpers.  Nash still can't get enough of his littlest bro.  He calls Nyle "blue eyes" and "little pumpkin."  Pretty cute.

Road Trip

Last weekend we had our first big outing since Nyle was born.  We drove to Northern Minnesota to celebrate my cousin Annie's wedding.  We had this trip planned even before we knew we were pregnant with Nyle but luckily we were able to make it work anyway.  Whitney, my mom, the three boys and I followed my Dad and Jason.  We drove to Stillwater on Thursday and stayed the night at my Aunt and Uncle's house to break up the trip.  Friday morning we drove the rest of the way to Breezy Point.  We had an awesome time hanging out with family and the wedding was beautiful.  Congratulations Annie and Nate!  The weekend went by way too fast.  We drove the whole way back home on Sunday.  It took us nearly 12 hours with all of our stops.  Thank you family for helping with the boys!  I didn't get many pictures because my hands were full :)

Back to School

Nash started his second year of pre-school last week.  This year was much less traumatic for both of us.  Neither one of us cried when I dropped him off.  He was excited to see his buddy Graham so I was excited for him.  Today when I dropped him off, he gave me a hug and rushed in to play with the kids.  I did well too until I walked outside and saw one of his little classmates crying as his grandpa walked him toward the door.  I cried for him as I walked to my van.  Obviously my hormones are not back to baseline.  I cry for kids I've never even met.
Here are some pics of Nash before his first day back to school...what a ham!

I hope you have an awesome year Buddy!

Nyle - 2 weeks

Momma's thoughts:  I'm feeling a little better this week and moving around with a little less pain.  Nyle had his 2 week follow up appointment with Dr Anderson on the 16th.  He was not quite up to birth weight yet.  He weighed 7 pounds 14 oz (30th percentile) and 21.5 inches long (93rd percentile).  That means he grew 1.5 inches in 2 weeks.  Probably not.  At night he sometimes stretches feedings to 4 hours apart.  He's even gone 6 hours if he is snuggled up next to me.  During the day he eats about every 3 hours or so.

Momma's thoughts about week 1:  I was pretty sore and moving slow.  By Tuesday, my energy reserve had hit empty.  Thank God my mom came over on Wednesday and Thursday.  I got naps both days.  Sleep is so very important!

Gold Medalists

I love the Olympics!  I was so fortunate that the London 2012 Summer Olympics were on while we were in the hospital and during my first week of recovery.  Much more entertaining than regular daytime TV.  Our first outing away from the house was a short, SLOW walk to the park at the school about 2 to 3 blocks from our house.  They had a couple new pieces of equipment installed since we were there last.  Here are some pics of my boys showing off their skills in honor of the 2012 Olympics.

Nyle's Homecoming

We left the hospital on Saturday with some very precious cargo.
The boys decorated the driveway and made welcome home signs with the help of Nana and Nini.

The boys wanted to read Nyle a book right away.

The boys are big helpers.  Nolan will ask to "pet Nyle" but then quickly moves on.  Nash loves being by the baby and is constantly wanting to play with him or lay next to him.  They are both doing awesome as big bros.
